Courtesy visit of His Excellency the Ambassador of Japan to the headquarters of the Executive Secretariat of ATLAFCO

His Excellency Mr. NAKATA Masahiro , Ambassador of Japan, accompanied by Mrs. MAKANA Nio, Second Secretary, paid a courtesy visit to the headquarters of the Executive Secretariat in Rabat on September 1, 2025.

During this first meeting, the two parties were given the opportunity to review the achievements in the framework of fisheries cooperation between Japan and ATLAFCO particularly in terms of sustainable use of living marine resources and ways of their future strengthening.

The new Japanese Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco has renewed his Government's support for the activities of ATLAFCO and more particularly for the projects included in the new 2025-2027 strategic action plan adopted at the 11th ordinary session of the Conference of Ministers on April 24 in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.

This working session was also an opportunity for both parties to congratulate themselves on the excellent relations between the member states of ATLAFCO and Japan within international fisheries and fisheries management bodies and organizations, as well as the agreement of points of view on the management measures adopted for the sustainability of fisheries, based on scientific evidence.
